What is the left turn rule, and how does the left turn rule apply to serious injury car accident cases in the state of Maryland? The left turn rule is very simple and a basic driving rule of the road.
If one car is driving on a road towards an intersection, and another car is driving in the opposite direction of and towards that car on the same road, if one of the cars is attempting to make a left turn at the intersection from that road and onto another road at the intersection, that car that is attempting to make the left turn has the legal obligation to yield the right of way to the other cars that are driving towards it.
